Order a Certificate

Manchester Register Office only holds records for events that took place within the City of Manchester. This does not include: Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, any of the other districts of Greater Manchester, or elsewhere. If the certificate you require is for an event that took place outside of the City of Manchester, you will need to contact the appropriate register office for that area. 

There is a statutory fee of £12.50 for each certificate issued. We also charge a non-refundable £2.00 search fee for every search we conduct. There are additional fees if you select to use our priority service, express delivery or overseas postage.

If you wish to request an adoption or stillbirth certificate please refer to the General Register Office (GRO) website or contact the GRO directly on 0300 123 1837.

By ticking below and continuing you are confirming that you have read, understand and agree to these terms and conditions:

  • You agree to pay costs for any work carried out; this includes payment for any searches where the birth, death, marriage or civil partnership did not take place in the Manchester City Council Registration District;
  • You have checked that the birth, death, marriage or civil partnership took place in Manchester
  • We will retain £2.00 for each certificate ordered if we do not hold the record that has been requested.
  • Manchester City Council Registration Service accept no liability for loss, damage or failure of delivery.
